FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Urging from fans and social media influencers inspires an effort to bring Townsend Press’ captivating book series about teens attending urban Bluford High School to life as a TV series.
Washington, D.C. – Rock Creek Content (RCC) is proud to announce their exciting new partnership with Double Nickel Entertainment. The two entities are joining forces to develop the wildly popular Bluford Series as a TV series.
Created by Townsend Press nearly two decades ago, the Bluford books have garnered millions of devoted fans. With 21 (and counting!) inter-related titles in the series and more than 11 million books sold, the novels have been a popular mainstay in middle and high schools across the country.
“To say that we are thrilled to work with Double Nickel is an understatement,” said Karyn Langhorne Folan, a partner with Rock Creek Content and one of the authors of the Bluford books. “They share our values about telling stories that can transform minds and change lives. We envision groundbreaking TV that presents these kids in their full humanity facing issues that are real and relevant. A show that matters.”
The quest to create a Bluford TV series was sparked by fan-driven viral posts on social media that reached hundreds of thousands, many directly requesting a Bluford show be developed for Netflix.
